I don't think any dressing is required or recommended. What I've had some luck with on multi rib auto belts that were noisy is the cheapest foot powder I can find at WalMart. I found one that is mostly corn startch, sodium bicarbonate, and talc. A small amount of medicines. It absorbs the road trash on the belts and the powders off and leaves the multi rib belts clean and dry. I think belt dressing only works on a single rib v-belt and only then on low power applications. I live in farm country and they use it on some of the old tractor belts, I try to keep my BIL from bringing it in my shop after he and my otehr BIL tried it on a multi rib and it sounded worse. Good luck as a new Savage belt isn't cheap and so far no one has been able to find them from any other source. Max
